About us

Guji is a coffee region in southern Ethiopia. That is where the name comes from.

We have two bars in Amsterdam. Warmondstraat 120 opened in 2014; Florian, who runs both, came to work there in 2017 and took the place over in 2022. It serves Caffènation, roasted in Antwerp.

Caffènation publishes what it pays for green coffee: the price the farmer got per kilo of cherry, the price on the boat, and what they then charge us. Any roaster can say they pay fairly, because saying it costs nothing. Printing the number means you can check it, and it puts the same question to everyone else. They were the first Belgian roaster to sign the transparency pledge, in 2021.

The kiosk on Zoutkeetsplein opened in March 2025 and serves April Coffee, roasted in Copenhagen by Patrik Rolf. It is our favourite coffee, so that is what we pour there.

Every espresso drink is a double shot and comes in one size. The grinder is dosed for a double basket, so pulling a single means dosing off and binning the difference — and a single is really half a shot rather than a whole one. Doubles taste better and waste less coffee.

Plant milk is free. Charging extra for it makes the better choice the more expensive one, and climate and animal welfare matter enough to us that we would rather not do that. The oat is ROA, made in Amsterdam. The pea is Sproud. The cow's milk is MOMA, who buy from organic farms around the city and pay those farmers directly.

Everything else follows the same rule: local where we can, organic where we can, as fair as we can manage towards people, animals and land. Toasties are made to order on Louf sourdough. The juices are cold-pressed by Juice Brothers.
